Sometimes you get so caught up in your day-to-day hustle, you miss the moment your relationship begins to wither away. You become so consumed with everything else that's going on in life, you hardly ever stop to give your significant other the love and attention they rightly deserve.

Perhaps there are times where you do recognise the distance between you two. But instead of tackling the issue head-on, you choose to turn a blind eye excusing all the negativity as "just a phase".

Sadly, you will eventually come to learn that pretending issues don't exist only lead to bigger ones; ultimately causing your relationship to have a total breakdown.

Not sure how to spot when things have gone south? Here are the 10 stages you need to look out for.

When you start swallowing your feelings

If you were once a Chatty Cathy always letting your partner know how you felt and are now choosing to remain silent, this is a major cause for concern.

Never going out together anymore

Once you've come to a point in your relationship where the two of you spend most of your weekends in the company of others, it isn't a sign of good things to come. In fact, it's the epitome of counterproductive.

Keeping secrets/ Lying to each other

Were you and your partner once super open and willing to share important details of your life but are now keeping secrets? You've got a problem on your hands.

Having HUGE arguments over the little things

If the littlest thing he/she does gets under your skin to the point you want to call it quits for good, that's a HUGE red flag. Just sit and think about what's really bothering you.

Sex has become rare, very rare

While you might not be able to make time for sex every single night, if you two are no longer having sex at all, it's unhealthy for the relationship. Being sexually unfulfilled is frustrating for everyone.

Seeking comfort elsewhere

If you're no longer confiding in each other and are confiding in someone else, you've officially entered a no-no zone.

Being less affectionate

You're no longer holding hands in public and kissing each other goodbye. Small things like this let your partner know you care, if neither of you are doing them any more, maybe you don't.

Showing little to no regard for each other's feelings

Suddenly you're doing everything you know the other absolutely hates. There's no way that could ever be a good thing.

Everything else has become a higher priority

When work and chores are the highlight of your day and not quality time with your partner, you have some reevaluating to do.

Excluding them from major events in your life

If your relationship has come to a point where you no longer feel it necessary to include your significant other in the special moments in your life, that pretty much says it all. Doesn't it?
